Course Introduction:
DESCRIPTION (AIM AND GOAL)

Introduction to fundamental principles and general techniques of molecular biology

Course Objectives

1.To introduce students to the major concepts of modern molecular biology and help them to understand the molecular mechanisms.

2.To introduce students to various techniques used in molecular biology research, help them to understand the principles and direct them to employ these techniques in research.

3.To orient students to evaluate experimental results.

4.To provide students with opportunities to develop the skills for experimental design.

Organization(Methodology)

This course has total 15 units. Unit 1 is the introduction and overview of this course and the rest 14 units are designed for different topics in molecular biology as shown below. Each unit contains the following components:

  • Preview materials

  • Quizzes

  • Lectures

  • Discussion and homework

These 14 units are organized into 5 sections, and at the end of each section, there is a section exam.

Final exam will be held at the end of the whole course in the exam week.
